I've just replaced the worn out battery in my old 3G iPod. The Replacement Battery cost only £14.99 from Maplin. The process for pretty simple (the prising tools soon wore out), but once open, the insides are full of delicate ribbons than can easily break. Quoting the pack, the Li-ion battery has a "35% higher capacity than the original". Hard to believe when every single item I've ever bought from Maplin has been complete shit. I'll just have to give them the benefit of the doubt for the time being.
Here's a WARNING: Always buy branded Apple cables. I bought a 3rd-party Belkin USB 2.0 cable for my iPod nano. As I first pushed it into the botton of my nano, I could feel the pins painfully being crushed in the process. It was a tight fit to say the least. Since then, my nano won't sync when I use my original apple cable or the Universal Remote Dock - it will only work with the Belkin cable. You see, this is why I've decided to get a new battery for my old iPod, just incase I decide to send the nano off for fixing. All this happened in the same month my wife poured coffee over my PowerBook. Is there a God? If so what have I done to deserve this?!
