Rumoured prices for today's rumoured metal iMacs have been leaked to the Macrumor site. "We've received word that price points for the new "Good", "Better", and "Ultra" iMac models will fall at $1199, $1499, and $1799 price points. No details beyond this are available, and it does not exclude the possibility of other configurations. They previously noted that an Italian site discovered that a Google search for 'iMac with touchscreen' leads you to the Apple website. AppleInsider also say that an updated version of the 'soon to be axed' Mac mini may return for one last fight. Also in this post they say that over-priced, under-featured .Mac may be made 'more compelling' after Jobs confessed "I couldn't agree more [with the assessment]...And we'll make up for lost time in the near future."
Come 6pm tonight, I'll be refreshing the news feeds, doubled up in a jealous spasm as there's no way I'll be able to afford one (unless my G4 iMac is damaged in a child-related mishap and I can claim on the insurance). But what if the Mac mini is upgraded with a 200GB HD and a decent video card? I may be persuaded to go for the cheaper option and get a Dell monitor through work (I'm sure I'll be able to cover the logo with something or colour it in with a bit of black touch-up paint). Help! I'm getting over-excited. Don't disappoint me Ive. Like you did with the white plastic paving slab of the G5 iMac.
