Whilst looking for my 2manydjs cd, I came across about twenty more albums that I haven't yet ripped in iTunes for my iPod.
Jaysus. Do I really need songs like Your Zowie Face by Nelson Riddle in my pocket? I guess so. I already have over 5 days and 8 hours worth of music queued up and ready for my one hour commute.
Whatever. This Walkman for the wired generation is still the best thing since sliced wholemeal. I haven't listened to this much music since 1987. Will I ever read on the train again?
Backup Update!
Last week Apple updated Backup to version 1.2.3.
The updated was posted on the 9th July and I've only just downloaded it.
What am I playing at?!
New features include: New QuickPicks let you back up Safari settings and iTunes purchased music. A customizable QuickPicks list lets you remove or add QuickPicks to your list. Backing up to disc is disabled if you have an unsupported external CD or DVD drive. (Wouldn't it have been better to add support for more drives?)

If you're thinking of buying a G4 Powerbook in the next month of so, don't.
Resellers in the States are being asked to remove all posters for 12 and 17 inch Powerbooks from their stores. Now this could mean two things. Either Apple are launching the re-styled Aluminium 15" PB or they're updating the spec of the 12 and 17 inchers. Probably both. Who knows?
I read this tidbit on the Think Secret rumour site.

Oh yeah, there's also a rumour going around that there will be an imminent update to the Pro Keyboard and Mouse too. La-di-da!

This month's What's On Your iPod? in Wired magazine features 'laydeez man' Craig David. The tunes at the top of his playlist include Amerie / Talkin' to Me, Blackstreet / Why Why?, Brian McKnight / Anytime, Dave Hollister / The Programme, Deborah Cox / Up & Down (In & Out), Donell Jones / Where I Wanna Be, Joe / My Name Is Joe, Justin Trousersnake / Still On My Brain, Tyrese / How You Gonna Act Like That? and Jon B / Now That I'm With You.
Shagging music, no doubt.
Proper Bo.

Last Sunday I swapped my old Mpeg Music Player with my brother for an Ericsson T68 mobile with Bluetooth. I've been thinking about getting one of these ever since I bought my new Powerbook (it comes with Bluetooth as standard). Now I've got a Bluetooth mobile, I can sync my contacts and calenders with iSync. My Palm m100 was playing up - every time I changed the batteries, the whole thing lost its entire memory and it would mess up my Mac's iCal and Address Book (very annoying). Now I have no need for it. It's lying in a drawer where it can do no harm.

Being one of the few .Mac members who coughed up the subscription fee when Apple decided to charge for it, I'm happy to say that I now feel I am finally getting my money's worth. At first all we got was web mail, Virex, BackUp and a few dodgy games. Now, with my Address Book, iSync and the newly added Internet Bookmarks online, I honestly don't know where I'd be without it. Those bods at Apple must spend all day sitting around in 'jeans and jumpers sessions' chatting about what would be really cool. They really are making home computing and the Internet useful for everyone.
Well done you. Give yourself a biscuit!

Finally worth it

Why July 17th?

Happy iCal Day!
Today seems like an appropriate day to launch my Mac site. So here it is.

I finally did it. I knew that as soon as I upgraded my iBook SE to anything with Firewire, I wouldn't be able to resist an iPod. For years I've had to make do with a Rio 600 Ministry Of Sound Edition (upgraded to 128MB), whilst every Tom, Dick and Harriet walked around with one of these white and chrome beauties in their pocket - And some of them didn't even own a Mac! So, as soon as I couldn't use the "I can't get one, I haven't got Firewire!" excuse anymore, I had attacks of jealous spasms everytime I spotted someone sporting the tell-tale white headphones cord - Well I suffered these spasms ever since the iPod was launched, but now I was seriously tempted to follow these people until we were alone, and then wack them around the head with a lead pipe and take what I needed so badly.

Please mug me!

When the 3rd generation iPod was launched, I had the money in my account and I couldn't resist the temptation. Somehow my wife agreed (I made her feel guilty about sending my hifi separates and prized vinyl collection to the confines of the loft when we prepared for the arrival of our daughter). Unlucky for her, I have now set up my turntable and amp in the spare room and am in the process of digitizing my best vinyl (using Spark LE). Will she ever see the back of it?
