Happy Birthday Steve Jobs! He's 49 today.
Hey y'all. There's some bad shit goin' down at the Infinite Loop crib. Eminem is sueing Apple for using on of his songs in an ad. See Macworld UK

Don't leave your docked iPod connected to a sleeping Mac. It'll flatten the battery. MacFixIt says so.

GarageBand Update.
iLife's 'Studio for the rest of us' has been updated to version 1.0.1. The 21.5MB download 'clarifies specific alert dialogs regarding system performance'. You still need to max up the RAM though.
A UK Apple Store is to open in London. Before next Christmas, there will be 20,000 sq ft of pure, gleaming white Apple store in which to lose yourself. The store will be on the Piccadilly Circus end of Regent Street, on the Crown Estate and will be the Flagship of Europe. Cool.

With every magazine in the world doing a "What's On My iPod" feature, I thought I'd do my own. Using a shareware app called iTunes Publisher, I quickly made an HTML page of what lurks in the darkest corners of my music folder (as of today). Look, I was into a lot of dodgy acts in my teenage years, OK? The original 3G iPod ads did say 'every song you've ever owned', didn't it? Well?! Click here to see for yourself.

Aptly named game shop GAME has began selling Mac games! It's about time one of the high street shops did this properly. Mac games have always been neglected to those three dusty shelves in the corner (yes, I'm talking about you HMV!). Well not any more. Thank you.

Surfin' Safari is a blog by the man who wrote the Safari app. It details the 'under-the-bonnet' improvements of v.1.2.

The new version of Bluetooth Software 1.5 for Mac OS X: "provides support for Bluetooth enabled headsets which may be used with iChat AV 2.1 public beta or later. In addition, the Bluetooth 1.5 update adds the ability to print to supported Bluetooth enabled printers. " Which is good, concidering I bought a Bluetooth headset in the Orange Sale of only £39. Cheap as chips!
Apple iChat 2.1 beta now lets you conference with your PC buddies running AOL Instant MEssenger 5.5 (if you really want to).
Apple .Mac members can now download the latest update of Backup:
"Backup 2.0.1 provides added quality and reliability improvements to scheduled backups and is now available through Software Update in System Preferences and as a download from .Mac. This update is recommended for all Backup 2.0 users. If you haven't tried Backup yet, now is a good time to start. You can safeguard your important data with backups to iDisk, CDs, DVDs, external FireWire hard drives (including iPods), network servers, or other mounted volumes. "

There's also some sort of jigsaw game for free too. Whoopee-do.

Java Update!
"In addition to providing support for Sun's Java 1.4.2 APIs, this release includes enhancements to drawing performance and stability for both Java applications and Java applets."

Safari Update!
Safari 1.2 improves compatibility with websites and web applications by providing increased support for standards, adds support for personal certificate authentication, and works with Java 1.4.2 to enable websites that rely on LiveConnect for communication between JavaScript and Java applets.

This update also provides improved application stability, full keyboard access for navigating web pages, and the ability to resume interrupted downloads."
It's just a shame that most of this new stuff only works if you're using Mac OS 10.3 Panther.

It looks like the European iTunes Music Store won't be launched as soon as I would've liked. Apparently, the way music rights work over here is very out of date and needs to be shoved into the 21st Century before Apple can even begin to strike any deals. Ho-hum.See Forbes.com
Safari Enhancer is a useful little app for those who like to fiddle about. It includes a de-bug menu enabler and can disable the cache.
Apple and Pepsi are using law-breaking teens in their 'all singing, all dancing' Superbowl ad. It promotes Pepsi's one million free download offer in conjuction with the Apple Store. It's just a shame they had to include the cheesy giggle at the end.Macworld UK
I ordered iLife 4 from the Apple Store on the 29th and it arrived yesterday! It seems like they've given themselves a good kick up the arse.
