Stop it Microsoft. You're being churlish!

This has to be scripted.
Jackson: "Let's go see the Macs."
Lisa: (to camera) "They're kinda popular at this age...they're way more money, dude."

Please shoot me if I start addressing my kids "dude".

So Macs are too expensive are they? Why did you go and buy a Sony VAIO?

Microsoft should change their line to 'Life without Apples'.

Anyway, I've ordered a MacBook Air from the Apple Refurb Store.

Dude is neither a new word nor street language. Dude is dignified to a certain degree. So what's wrong with calling your young boy a dude, seeing as he will one day grow up to be one?

So you're an Apple fanboy, more power to you. you've got the money to spend on a MacBook Air. Far be it from anyone to convince you to spend less.

For many others, the Sony in the TV spot is the perfect machine. Under 1500 bucks, gives you a choice of CPU depending on your budget. An ATI graphics chip for you to game with, with decent 3DMark score well above the Nvidia 9400m. A 16" screen so you don't have to buy an additional display. To a lot of schooling kids out there, this is the perfect machine.

I'm a Mac user, but unlike you I see the logic behind the Vaio purchase. It just makes sense.

We don't say 'dude' over here (unless ironically).

I always thought that Sony products were more expensive. Perhaps I need convincing otherwise?

This post was commenting on the way Microsoft are having a dig at Apple. Perhaps they deserve it after the Mac Guy vs PC Guy ads. But Apple always gave a good reason for buying a Mac in their ads. These Microsoft ads are just highlighting one thing - money.

When the first of this campaign of ads aired, I could see Microsoft's point. Apple need to produce a cheap netbook; their iPods have got smaller so why not their MacBooks?

Macs are expensive for many reasons. Apple spend loads on research and development and this money has to come from somewhere, but at the end of the day it means that you're buying a well-built computer, that has a great OS that's intuitive to use, that has iLife for everything you need (not loads of third-party apps) and that looks good enough to have around the home (not something you leave in the smallest room with the boxes of junk).

The reason I've just bought a refurb MacBook Air is that I can take the old apps, like Adobe Creative Studio, from my old PowerBook and put them on the Air. Also, I chose the air for its portability. My time commuting with a MacBook Pro enlightened me to the Air's purpose (I didn't think much of it before). If Apple had a cheaper netbook-sized MacBook in its arsenal, I'd have gone for that.

Microsoft should've brought up the fact that Apple is probably out of most people's reach in the first ad and left it at that. Because they've brought it up again and again, it makes them look churlish; especially as we all know that Gates and Ballmer have banned all things Apple from their homes and workplace. Yes, I know Apple have been having a dig at Windows, but this addresses the fact that no one knows that you can run things like Office on a Mac without their being compatibility issues. Apple always gives a valid reason for choosing Mac. Remember they do only account for less that 5% of the PC market.

The Vaio is probably the best choice for the kid and his mum. If I wanted to play games on a laptop, I wouldn't go for an Apple either. So surely they can convince us to buy a PC in the next ad without knocking the Mac? Luckily UK advertising rules disallow this sort of behaviour so they'll have to rethink their strategy if they want to run the ads over here. That's why the Mac guy vs PC guy ads have only appeared on our cinema screens.
